Question Dealer says no manual 4x4 shift in Mega Cab!!!

Is this true? I could have sworn I test drove one back in June. Why would DC not make a manual shift transfer case in the Mega Cab?

Its true. I was wanting the manual shifter myself, don't really trust eletronic stuff too much. But I hear it is fairly bomb proof.

I think I just decided not to purchase a mega-cab. I could of swore that when I test drove one earlier this year it was still a manual.
I can't swear by it though. That's one of the reason's I bought a dodge I hated the electronic crap on my ferd.

Electric shift is fine. I have it on my truck, I turn the dial and bam in 4x4. Quick simple and have no problems with it. There are a few threads about it, and I have yet to read any failures.

I have always had the manual lever too. The electronic shift did not stop me from getting the truck I wanted. Somewhere there is discussion about how to change to the lever, sounded pretty simple actually. I am not sure if it was on this forum boards or another, look around yu can find it. I have no plans to change mine, all works great.

I guess I was a little dissappointed. First, these trucks come out with no longbed option (huge mistake), and after talking with the salesman who had just returned from a week long DC training session in Dallas, they never will. Then, they do not offer the MC in an ST level. And to top it off, no manual lever 4x4. If DC wants to compete in all arenas of the heavy duty market, they are going to have to step up to the plate and produce a real platform with many configurations of the MC.

I know, these MC's sell like hot cakes, but how many MC's have you seen loaded with a construction crew or lawn maintenance crew toting their respective trailer full of equipment? As a business owner, I sure wouldn't drop $45K-$50K just to have my employees trash a truck through daily use that had carpet, electric everything, and nice seats. Both Ford And Chevy/GMC offer "Work Truck" interiors for a reason, TO BE ABUSED.

I'm stepping off my soap box.

My last truck had the manual shift . . .had to get out and lock the hubs. It was a bit more fail-proof, but it sure is nice to be able to do it on the fly. I'm not pushing a snow plow for a living or anything like that, so it's not that big of a deal to me. The electric hubs are pretty reliable.

I wouldv'e preferred manual shift. I've used the electronic activation a number of times. Never a problem.

I have read many sites and have only heard of one failure to date and it was on this site about a week ago . It sure would rate it as real low on my list of reasons to walk away from a truck but to each his own I guess . The Fords had some trouble with them but the Dodges have been real good so far . Will they work in 10 years , who knows mine has been flawless and like power windows , power steering , power brakes , power door locks , power seats , and many more , I did not want it when I first seen it but they have grown on me .

...guys wanting a "work" truck look for a little more than a Dodge Dakota with a living room attached to it.

The Mega's HVAC goes under the center cup console, how get vents in the rear.

those rear vents are worth losing the manual shift, that rear space is bigger than most pickups were years ago

Quick Reply: Dealer says no manual 4x4 shift in Mega Cab!!!
