dealer issue with overboost code

I had my truck in to the dealer to day for an over boost code that keeps coming back. Truck is still under warrenty and that is the only reason it went there. They tried to tell me the aftermarket exhaust and the aftermarket intake void my warrenty! I told them they better prove that that is what caused the problem first. They then changed their additude. They told me that they could not get the truck to go over 22 psi and that the computer told them that it has not had an active code in 230 key cycles? If that is the case then why can I clear the codes and and it will come right back? Thats when they said that they can only clear the codes so they won't come back. So they tell me everything is fine and to come get my truck. I pick it up and leave and pulling onto the highway I hit 26 psi boost and the truck don't want to shift. So is there anything else I can do to prove to them that it has a problem or is it hopeless trying to tell them something. Service manager said to bring it back and talk to him. I just wanted to have all my ducks in a row before I went back. Sorry for the long post just wanted to give you guys all the info. Thanks

Your waste gate is sticking common problem. My 2002 was doing the same thing. And thats before i put the intake and exhaust mods. When you overboost the computer starts to defuel the motor so it runs like a dog at anything over 1/2 throttle. Just reach underneath the turbo and where the shaft goes in the levers but und is square so you can put a short cresent wrench on it and work it back and forth. With my super chips programmer it has a boost fooler so it does not matter if its stuck. Free it up and the truck will work fine.

An elegant solution to the 0234 over boost DTC is to just slap on your favourite fueling module with boost fooling capabilities (most modules have this feature) and forget about it.....the sticky wastegate will suddenly become a non-issue!

Yeah just throw a comp Box in it from EDGE if your funds will allow and be a push button away from more power and even with it off that computer wont care how much boost it makes.

I totally agree with the "adding the box" suggestions. I fought a truck one time with that issue. Another dealer had replaced the Map sensor twice, but this truck would still set the code, but only once in a great while. With the air charge test tool I was finally able to catch the prob. Ended up the bracket that the waste gate motor bolts to was incorrectly machined and the waste gate rod was "hanging" up on the bracket when it attempted to move. This would only occur bad enough to set the code when a trailer was being pulled up a grade. In order to get paid (warranty) I installed a new turbo being there were no "serviceable" parts on the turbo. FIXED!
