dash top/steering column pods & gauge placement ???

ok well, i've got just about everything i need and would like to install my gauges sometime soon. i have the isspro ev gauges (tranny temp, pyro, fuel press, and boost press). i also ordered two pods for them - one on the steering column, and a triple dash top pod to hold them all.

the other day i put the pods in place to see what it would be like to try and read the gauges in those spots. the result is that it takes very minimal eye movement to locate all the locations, in fact, i think the dash top actually requires a tiny bit less movement to locate and read. on the other hand - the column pod is still very easy to read (as if you were checking speed).

my question is this: of the 4 new isspro's, which gauge would i want to check and compare my speed and rpms with most often? (steering column gauge)

second question: if it where you with my truck in sig and these pod/gauge placement options, where would you place each gauge?

thanx in advance.

jason

I have the following guages: tranny temp, pyro, boost and fuel pressure. All except fuel pressure are on the pillar. I also have the edge attitude so I'm basically running two sets of guages.

When driving on flat ground I usually don't watch the guages much because the Edge attitude has audible alerts on most of its guages. The main guage I watch when driving in the mountains is the pyro with boost being second. Sometimes it can be hard to determine how steep a grade is but the boost and exhaust temp will give you a pretty good idea on how much peddle to give and when to shift down/up, especially when towing.

If I were you I would put the pyro in the column pod and the rest in the dash pod. Second choice would be pyro and boost in the dash pod, (so you can watch them together easier), and fuel pressure on the column. Just my opinion, others may disagree.

i was chatting today with a friend who drives truck and he suggested what you did regarding the pyro and boost - to keep them side by side as they will correlate with each other.

as it is now, i will put the fuel press on the steering columns and then pyro-boost-tranny temp (left to right) in the dash pod.

i am still open to any and all ideas/reasons to mount differently . . .

I've got boost pyro and feul pressure. I put the boost and pyro on the pillar becuase they are the most inportant, The feul pressure went on the the steering column as i don't look at it as often. Just something to keep in mind, the steering column mount doesn't have much room behind the guage so a boost guage with fittings behind it may not fit.

on the pillar from top tp bottom I went trans temp, pyro, boost. put the fuel pressure down on the column. plumbing is a little tight for the fuel pressure. works good for me cause i have to look up a little bit for the trans temp but pyro and boost are right in front of normal scanning.

Your dash is different but the gauges should sit about the same
