Just wanted to get some opinions. What do you guys think of the dash top guage mount? I have the single steering column mount and want to add more guages but cant decide between dash top or pillar. What do you guys like better? If you have pics that would be great.

I was looking at the dash top or the cluster that goes at the top of the windshield. Just because I have the outlook on my pillar.

I did a search on the windshield mount and a couple poeple said they were having troubles in hot weather with it not sticking and falling down. That kind of steered me away from windshield mount. Maybe someone who has experience with one will chime in.

I prefer the dash mount. When I get gauges I am going with the dash mount because I use my grab handle to get in (lazy) and I heard the same thing about the windshield mount as the previous person. Plus I don't think they are noticeable to others as the pillar pod.

I agree with shagginwagon I would like to keep my grab handle so the wife can get in when she drives..

Where's the dash mount gauge pod mount on the dash? Who makes it? I saw an aluminum gauge mount on here in another thread that I thought about using to mount the fuel and rail pressure gauges in front of the cubby hole below the radio.

I had the dash mount in an 02 model and did not care for it after awhile. I guess because the guy who installed the gauges cut a quarter size hole in the dash and the mount would not stay in place.

Here's some pictures for you to consider. I have a single gauge on the a-pillar (SRT Pillar) that retains the factory grab handle.





Comments on the overhead pod are accurate. I am not satisfied with how the overheads are mounted, and they currently hang down 1/4" lower than they should. I believe the only way to secure gauges in this location is to mount via screw to the overhead sheet metal. The velcro just doesn't get along well with the new Lorenz kit when the pavement ends!

I like the look of the dash mount and I've heard good things about it being right in your line of sight while driving so it makes it easier to keep an eye on things without having to turn your head.

Nice pics Ena ... I'm sure that'll help out his decision.

BTW, Ena were you happy with the fit and finish on the dash mount kit, like how well it makes to the dash top, how it's secured, etc? TIA

The dash mount is great! Have several pics in my album. Next I'll probably get the single SRT A pillar mount. I want to keep the handle. I use it evertime I get in!

I have the dash top pod and the SRT10 A pillar mount. I can't say enough good things about the setup. You get to keep the grab handle and the dash pod is right in the line of sight for an easy glance at the gauges. The only problem I had was colour matching the grey paint to the dash. The factory paint from the dealership is a shade or two too light, although you can't really tell unless you look closely (problem is I know it's not a perfect match! ).

If I remember right, there are two little metal "L" brackets that are used to secure the dash pod to the dash. You have to drill a small hole (or use a tek screw) through the dash. Then, you place the pod over these brackets, and use the provided allen head screws to mount.

As a word of caution, make sure that the dash pod fits "comfortably". In other words, if the holes don't line up exactly, don't push down on the pod to make things line up with the "L" brackets.

The holes in mine were slightly off, so I pressed down on the pod slightly to make things fit. After a few months, I found my dash had cracked on either side of the pod! It doesn't move around any, but I need to fix it some day...

All in all, I'm very happy with the fit and finish. I used the factory Mopar paint (available from Geno's or Diesel Manor), and the match is perfect.

Some aren't used very often, but I've run across occasions that it was helpful to have all of them.

Drive pressure isn't a very popular one, but is very useful in determining when you're out of the turbo's efficiency range, and thus, what you should limit boost to. Also, it allowed me to adjust the Jacob's exhaust brake up to the maximum allowed 62 psi backpressure.

And, then, they just look nice
