dash removel

My A/C went out last year. Now that winter is just about over I want to replace th evap. core. Does anyone have the directions to remove the dash without taking it compleatly apart. Thanx

Nope you have to remove it. Pull the steering column. Pull the console and shift levers. Pull the necessary wires and any gages you have added. Pull the dash. The service manual show how to us a wire to hang it in the open position. This does ot work the dash is too heavy. Position the seats with pillows on thema and lay it back on them for the final disconnects. One man can't lift it out you need two.

I did a cab replacement on a 96', it was a lot easier than it looks, just takes time.

Had to do that to mine at 65k. The evaporator was rotten. If you go over to TDR there is a pictorial of the process. Seach Evaporator in the forms.

The A/C shop I patronize did not remove the dash to replace the evaporator coil on my '96.

Looks like I have a leak in my evaporator -- do I have to pull the dash or not. How long does it take for the whole process?
