daily driver--not anymore

First of all I"m forunate I have a company supplied vehicle.
I think I have built my truck into somthing that is not fun to drive every day.
this 4th of july weekend I took a long trip with my personel truck, this was a recreational trip. when I return home I had realized I bhad lost somthing and needed to go back, the work truck standard no lift chev was much more comfortable.

so my question to the team is, is your truck still comfortable as a daily driver ??

Mine is stock and I drive the crap outa it, I do have a little car to run abought in but its days are numbered. My thoughts are if you modded it to the point its no longer fun to drive you went to far and need to remove what ever nesasary to make it more plesent to drive. Modding it the point its no longer plesent to drive is kinda counterproductive isent it??

Curious, what made it uncomfortable? Was it a suspension & tires or having the performance mods? I ask because the some of the mods in your signature are on my to do list.

I took a fairly long trip this weekend as well. The only two things I was disappointed in were the sloppy stock torque converter (read built trans) and my egt’s went higher than I would have liked pulling some of the hills (read twin turbos).

de-tune it a bit for daily driving, get Thuren to valve you some Kings to soften the ride (still cant compare a dodge to a GM with their independant front end) and get seat foam re-done on the drivers seat and you will be back to smilin!

I agree what did you find uncomfortable? The ride, the power, the trans?

I put most of my road time in my 97 up to 12 hours a day and don't have much to complain about really. I mean it may not have all the whizzy stuff of my 08, but it works well on the roads I drive, some gravel, highway, back road bush etc.

The 08 is a great highway driver as well for me as its used for family use only.

I think it is too easy to see a mod out there and not realize how much is affects the daily use of the truck. Some mods are just performance and that's it but you sacrifice the ease of just getting in and go. The 12V is more like that as dialing back is not as easy as selecting power level 2.

the difference in handling, the stock suspenion on my work was much more comfortable to me after I had been driving all day. My truck is fun to drive just like a hot rod, fun to have but not as a every day driver.my work truck handles like a car, in all honesty when came down to makeing the choice on which vehicle to take the choice was the ride quality, and most of my friends love the way my mega rides, for me the stock suspension on my work truck feels like a car.

20's probably aren't helping, neither are the fox shocks! Do you have a lift?

But nothing rides like a chevy...

4" lift from the dealer when I purchased it, not sure what brand.
the truck ride is not bad just by comparison to a stock set up the stock suspension has a much smoother ride.

A lot probably has to do with the control arm angles. I went from a 2" to a 1" level last month and my ride is night and day!
