Cummins signed deal with Dodge

Here it is. Maybe the big boys will still have a cummins in them also

Looks like we will have to start dealing with 1/2 ton owners telling us theirs is better.

I'll put it to ya' this way...If Cummins comes thru with a say 4 cyl TD that will push a 1/2 ton 4x4 close to 30 MPG and fall around $25K...I may have a 3/4 tonner up for sale...

"This is an exciting program," Solso said. "We will be manufacturing a great new product that will increase fuel efficiency by 30 percent or more
Increase from what? If you were to assume he was referring to the current motor we have, and assume an average MPG of lets say 17, a 30% increase is only 22.1 MPG, not 30.

Best news I've herad in a long time! I have seen the specs on these engine's, one being a V6 and the other a V8 if and they make good power, and should do much better than the gas hogs as far as fuel economy goes. I think a Ram 1500 with that small V8 cummins would be an awesome machine for a lot of the guys out there who don't tow super heavy but are looking for more torque and better economy and longevity than a gas engine. The specs I saw on that V8 a year or so ago were around 250hp and 460ft.lbs or so if I recall correctly, or right in that neiborhood.

That would be a sweet daily driver. Crank that baby up to 400hp and smile on the way to work.

I doubt under 30k. They are not planning on putting them in till 2010. Plus the cost of deisels are going up on 1-01-07 because of the increased emissions. So even the small diesel could carry an option price of 5k or more. So base price on an slt 4x4 quad would be 26k or so. Then add in a diesel. You are at 31-32k. Keep in mind the prices of today are going up about 2k come the first of the year. So the 34k slt CTD is soon to be a thing of the past.

...or one could just get a good used S.O. for around $22k if those are the performance specs and MPG you want

I had a friend who owned a first gen CTD 1500 back around 1999. Weren't these produced in small quantities back then? Or am I remembering a dream?

No such critter made with a CTD. There were some 150 Rams made back in the late 70's or early 80's with a little mitsubishi diesel in them, they are rare, but you'll see one once in awhile.

I'm sure Cummins won't bring out a boat anchor, they haven't made a habit of it. I trust em.

I rememebr seeing the truck - it was a 4x4 longbed CTD with some kind of manual tranny. It was badged 1500... but maybe someone rebadged it.

My friend said he looked long and hard for a 1500 diesel and jumped on this one when he found it. Paid $20,000 for it back then.

This was definitely not a 150 model. Could have been an engine swap too.

Somebody put 1500 badges on a bigger truck, or did an engine swap, Dodge never made a 1500 CTD.
