Cummins Ford???

I was recently visited by a friend who just purchased his second powerstroke, this one is a F550 C+C. I jokingly asked if he was aware of the problems with the new 6.0s and he replied, Ford switched to a cummins built v8 about 3 months ago and this one is one of the good ones. Is this true? just curious, or are these the problem prone 6.0s I here about??. His other is a 99 or 2000 with 30k on the odo and he said they are on their 6th set of brakes including new rotors every time.

Thanks, Apache

Re:Cummins Ford???

I think I ticked him off because I have a first gen CTD and It is the only real diesel and it keeps going. He is a Ford only kinda guy, and thats his preferance, more power to ya.
Have to keep an eye on this one. I think the 6.0 he has is the problem child engine, cant wait to rub it in a little!!!!
Nothin like a little friendly competition :

Ford's new 6.0 Powerstroke is a Navistar engine, just like the previous Powerstrokes.

Except in the reliability department, apparently.

Didn't he say a F550?

Aren't those as well as F450's available with Cummins engines?

Re:Cummins Ford???

Unless Ford sold him a truck modified by www.fordcummins.com he most assuredly doesn't have a Cummins under the hood. Now as far as the V-8 goes...
I have a nice bridge at Lake Havasu I can sell the man

I heard that Ford isn't gonna renew Dodges contract for the Cummins when it expires, in 06 I think it was (If ya can't beat em, buy em & keep em for your self!!)

So is DC gonna start putting Merc diesels in Dodges?
