I've got a old 90 Ford Bronco that I bought in January that I love to death, but I hate that its a auto, and the fact its not a diesel. Right now its got a 5.0 fuel injected v8 in it. Older bronco's had as big as the old 460 (7.5) v8 in here. So here is my question:

Do you think a 12v Cummins could fit under my hood (I don't have a lift) and could the suspension take it? I don't really offroad with the truck, but I like the ability too, and have done it a couple times, it just not something I do every weekend. Mainly just mudding after its rained.

Also, what kind of upgrades should I get for the front and rear diff's? Should I grab Dodge or Ford front and rear?

This is something I have the potential to want to save for, and probably pay (I know, out the butt) someone else to do the big work on it. I maybe just dreaming, but I want to discuss it and see if its possible.

Let me know your thoughts! I know a guy somewhere put a Powerstroke in his, but that of course is a v8, and I don't want the v8, or PSD. Does anyone know how I can get in contact with the guy maybe to ask questions?

From what I have read the 5.9 CTD fits better in the ford than the chevy. Find a good 94-98 12v 4x4 truck and make it work for ya.

I started trying to price it out, and here is my rough estimation:

94-98 chassis/wrecked truck: $5000 est.
Labor on someone elses part: $2000 min. est.
Extra parts/possible fab parts: $2000 min. est.

Total estimated: $9000

Completely agree.... and would try and stuff a 12v in my 73 Ford Bronco, but don't think it would fit. If you have any leads on the 3.3tba 4cyl cummins let me know. I was going to do the 5.0 v-8 efi swap but if I find the 4cyl cummins I'll definately go that route. It can be done.
