Cummins 555

What can you guys tell me about the V8 Cummins 555? I just picked up a Versatile 555 with this engine in it....I know that it is one of the smallest 4WD Versatiles produced and it will get used in that fashion (read: it won't be expected to pull the world at road speed)...

Thanks!

PS - I used the 'search' and found this thread....https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ht=cummins+555

I was wanting to hear a few more replys from the farmers on here.....

My bro's boss has a Versatile, with a Inline 6. They have it turned up so much that they have to have 12 wheels (3 per axle) and weights! The reason is that it starts power hopping across the field. It pull a tandem disc and harrow at about 8-9 mph, which is fast in the field. Been doing this for the dozen or so years they have had it.

Other than that I can't help ya. Just want to say they are powerful and can last quite a while.

OH! I just remembered something. The air filter wasn't changed until this year when it started to act up. The date at the bottom was stamped 197*.

I ran a triple nickel in a concrete truck for a short term. It was horribly under powered. But then I also ran a 3208 Cat that was about as bad.
