Cummins 4bt ...... Twins....? HY35/9 to S300???
Stumbled into a 4cyl cummins 4BT with the rotary pump 130hp im researching the 4cyl inline p7100 series pump conversion. seems like i can round up the parts for about $500.
So looking at a set of 300's
Studs
Gov springs
got all that figured out... my issue is with the turbo
its a hx30/14 which i doubt will keep up
early cfm numbers i have found 250-300 cfm conflicting numbers from different sites? those numbers sound right
then a hy35/9cm is capable of flowing 375-425 cfm?
and a S300 is 800-850 cfm
EDITING ...................... CHANGING MY QUESTION had a brain Fart please bear with me
Would this be a good shot in the dark. is there a cheaper mid size turbo that would work for this combo i could leave the hx30 on top.
space is limited its going to take afew years of dabbling with this to get it into the cherokee chief in place of the stock 401 but i think its on the aggenda that or i'll get another chief but since i already have AC, NV4500 and everything else necessary i cant see why to look otherways. Clearing the heater box will be a little bit of an issue but i think i can ge the tubing to all clear.
hope a few can offer some insight

the hx 30/14 will be laggy on a 4bt. if you could get a 9 cm housing for the hx30 with the s300 on the bottom would be my choice. but i have no idea what is availble for the hx30. sounds like a neat project, good luck.

A buddy of mine has the 3.9 in a chevy truck with a hy35 on it. The rotary pump is turned wide open with pod injectors and will clear up with just the hy.
From my understanding the rotary pump has been to a performance pump shop and they say not much can be done with that certain pump. The truck does run real decent, about like a good running stock 350 and he does get 25 to 28 mpg out of it.

that is true, this where getting an inline p pump on there would be handy, set of delivery valveswould help a bunch. stock the inline pump flows 118cc DV's i think that is what i read or it was 131's but i think im confusing that with the 160 pump. anyways there would be a set of 181's in its future
thanks for the info guys. ive run a hy35 on a 4bt before and yes they do clean up them quite well but i think i can take a 4cyl a little further
