Cruising boost on a 62/71/14

I have a SPS62 on my truck and while cruising down the road at highway speeds it makes little to no boost. I am just curious if this is normal or if it may be a boost leak? I have already found one boost leak, but it didnt really change anything so I am wondering if there is another. What kind of boost is everyone else seeing with that size turbo at highway speeds?

That is normal. The bigger housing and wheels move alot more air than a stocker.

That is what I was thinking, but I just wanted to make sure. Sometimes I miss the 62/65/12 I had before.

Unless there is a descend head wind or excessive speed, I usually see little to no boost as well. With is fine that means the motor isn't working and its saving me fuel

I see around 1-3 with cruise on. driving the flats 0-1 but can easily see 5-10 on small grades due to gearing and the tires. your fine.

The 62/65/12 I had was great for daily driving and towing. It did have trouble keeping things cool on the top end so I traded someone for a 62/71/14. This one keeps things cooler on the top end, but the cruising temps are hotter. Pulling my trooper on a trailer up some smaller hills in central NC the EGTs will get up to 1100-1200* just keeping up with traffic. Sometimes I want to find another 62/12, but I think instead im going to get some mach 4s.

Was the 62/65/12 a lot better for towing than the 62/71?

I have been in a truck with a 62/71/14 and I wasnt real impressed with how it did towing. It seemed the EGT's got up there quick on the hills especially.

I have never been in one with a 62/65/12 or 14 towing though. Everyone says they are much better.

I just refuse to upgrade to a big turbo and then have to really keep an eye on my EGT's when im towing. I dont like to have to lose speed on hills because of high EGT's. I would rather deal with higher EGT's unloaded playing around than not hardly be able to tow anything because of it.

Whoa yes same questions as cumminsdriver! bombarding pinkston haha. What kind of fuel mods did you have with your 62/65/12 that made it hotter on the top end and what do you consider Hot?
I want a 62/65/12 or 14.. I'd rather it work better for towing and DD but still wanna have fun at the track with it. What you say dude?
Thanks btw

The 62/65/12 was much better towing and daily driving. With jammer 4s and a adrenaline the egts would hit 1600 quick and I would let out.
Playing around tonight with the same jammer 4s and adrenaline with the 62/71/14 the egts got to 1417* and that was all I could give it.

my 62/71/14 doesn't get very hot on 7 with TSTpm3 and smarty on sw7 or 9 when I drive to the 4-5500 elevation I will see 1250-1300 for a quick flash this is trying to kill a hill at 65-70 also. this is what I usually drive around daily for settings. on freeway I'm at 500-800 elevation and never have problem. egt's are at 700-750 slight hills see 3-5 up to 10 of psi quickly and egt's quickly to 1000 and back down quickly. very happy with this. this is 3.55 gearing and 35" tires.

That sounds pretty good to me cause I have the same gearing and tire size. I think for the fuel mods I have/want that might be a little too much turbo though.

I have the HOT j/a and plan on adding Mach 2's (105) or DDP 3's (110). Or maybe even Mach 1,6 or DDP2 If the bigger will get me too hot.
Im fine with smoking for fun but want to keep pretty good street manners.
Still wanna be able to tow like a champ and get a little better times at the track too.
All my towing is around town stop and go so a turbo with quicker spool is a lillte more important to me then cooler temps at on the top end. Cause I wont be hittin the top end very hard unless Im drivin empty for a race.

Fyi my goal is 450 rwhp. Thats why im shootin for the bigger sticks and the right turbo to make it all work well and still be able to use mainly for dd and towing.
Thanks again

I figure, with jammer 4's and top stage on your quad adr your looking at about 300 maybe a little more, extra fueling hp. and you were gettin your 62/65/12 to 1600*.

With my Hot J/A and 105-10hp sticks Im lookin at about 230 ish hp in extra fueling. I just cant decide between
62/65/12 or 14 or..
64/65/12 or 14.
Im conserned a 14 will spool too slow for around town towing, so maybe 12?
Also a 64/65 would give me just a little more air to keep it cooler.
What do you guys think?

Thanks alot for all the PS info btw. Dosent seem to be a big followship for II PS's on here so its good to finally hear some supporters opinions. And Dieselwrks for the sizes Im talking about too. Thanks all.

Going from a 62/65/12 to a 62/71/14 would be around 300 rpms difference in spool? A cam could give those 300 rpms back. Or you can just run more rpms. I do both and see 900-1100 degrees rolling 70 mph or so up a 9% grade empty in direct drive.
