Where is the cruise control servo located under the hood. I looked today quickly in the rain and I didn't see it. Truck is a 97 3500.

I know on my truck...All the cruise control stuff is right under the drivers side battery box...What problems do you have with your cruise??

The cruise won't work at all. The light comes on in the cruise switch bar but it won't set. I had my scanner hooked up to it today and it sets a Target speed and everything but when you let off the throttle it won't maintain your speed.

Maybe try this...There is a switch that goes out of adjustment at the brake pedal....While on the highway pull up on the brake pedal and hold it there...Then engage the cruise..Its a quick test if the switch is out of adjustment...On my truck it always goes out

I will give that a try but I don't think that is the issue because I can see on the scanner if the brake is depressed or not. Thanks for the help I will post what I find out.

You might check the hard plastic vacuum hose. When I was changing shocks out last year I bumped it and it cracked in half. Then I didn't have cruise control. I taped it back together with electrical tape and has been good for a year. I should replace the hose, but I had other things to do.....

Mine had split in half too, but I just replaced the whole line. Works great now.

I went thru all the troubleshooting regarding my inop cruise control. My cruise light on the steering wheel switch did work but cruise would not set. I then checked the brake switch. That tested good. The vacuum was next but a test with a vacuum gauge eliminated that as a problem. Vacuum was good.

I then did the electrical test on the servo. The servo failed. I purchased a new servo and wiring harness and cruise is good to go again.

The servo lives in a very bad location. Battery acid works its way to the servo and fails the vacuum line and the servo itself. My servo was in pretty bad shape.

New servo was my fix.

The trouble with mine was oil from vacuum pump had got past the check valve at the vacuum pump and had melted my vac lines. It affected my climate control,cruise control,and my 4wheel drive would take forever to engage and disengage. There was a recall on the 94-96

I found the problem the line is all cracked and there is a hole in the servo from a bad battery I guess when the po had it.

I too am having problems with the cruise control. It engages for a few seconds then disengages. The dealer has told me the servo needs to be replaced, but then they said it is related to a bad instrument cluster. Clearly, I can't trust the dealer. Any help other than what has been listed?
