Cruise control issue
Well I'm finally catching up on the little TLC items my truck has needed and a couple repairs, so now I want to fix the cruise control. It hasn't worked since I got my truck a couple months ago. It won't even power on. I checked fuses but they are fine. Because my truck had a very dirty interior and had water sitting on the floor for a while, I was wondering if the problem might be that the switch in the steering wheel is corroded. Before I tear into the wheel I wanted to know if there were any common problems that I should check first. Any help is appreciated.

Once you get it to power up...if it still doesn't work it is either the cable, the vacuum actuator under the driver side battery, or a simple vacuum line problem going to the actuator. On mine, the battery leaked acid onto the vacuum line where it attached to the actuator and ate right through. The vacuum leak also caused the heat/air cond. controls not to function. The cable also broke where it connected to the throttle linkage lever.
