I thought it was just me,ive had my truck for a little over a year now(my first diesel)ive always felt it was underpowered from what everyone says about these trucks.if i pull away from a stop light, and get on it,it doesnt do much.....i was just out messin around with it and thought id do a big smokey burnout.well man was i not impressed.on level 5 it would NOT even turn the tires,i tried pumpin the brake to get em goin and nothin.SOMETHING aint right.can you guys help me,give me some ideas of things to look at or try?????

Stock lift pump? how many miles are on your truck? You mite not be getting enough fuel to fulfill the needs that level 5 is requesting. just my opinion. Could be a lift pump going bad. Does it start okay? Hows your transmission shifting?

Yes it is the stock pump, the truck has 76k miles on it,i even tried it on level 1 and wouldnt do anything!truck starts fine,i build transmissions for a living and i have been into this one and all is good there.....

Ok, well atleast your tranny is good haha. Well my 03 has the 555 cummins not the 600 cummins like your 05 so there is prob a difference in the Edge programs but you shuld still be able to burn the tires on any level. Your lift pump may not be making enough fuel pressure. Idk if there are any common problems on the 05's like the 03's or not. Is your truck down on power across the powerband or just whenever you try to burnout etc.?

I dont have anything to compare it to,but if id have to guess id say down on power eveywhere, even if i just floor it from a stop,it seems powerless.

It takes some work to get these tires broke loose. Try hitting your stall, then letting off a little to a roll, then getting on the brakes again. In my truck, I have to back off the brakes to get them to break loose.

Start it on some sand or something.

Do you have gauges? FP and RP, I mean. You may be starved for fuel.

Is your boost normal? It may be normal on your monitor but it may be leaking out somewhere. Whats your milage like?

milage is about 15 mpg driving conservetivly.

I dont think you have a boost leak then. The 600 series Cummins naturally dont get as good as milage as the 555 does in most cases. madhat has a point tho. Its not hard to drain your rail. You may want to check your Fuel pressure and Railpressure.

i stood on it for some time, got the boost up to what said 25 on my edge and tried multiple times to get it to go,it wouldnt!

Where do you check that, and what do you need to do it.

I am in the process of checking my fuel pressure this weekend. From what ive learned this week You can buy a replacement fuelcanister cap with a pressure port form Genos Garage and they also sell a fuel pressure test kit. Im not sure about the rail. You would have to ask around. I havent run into that yet. madhat may know. sorry i cant be of more help with checking your pressures. My friend has everything to check my FP and RP so ill have to ask him.

if you do a search for rail pressure or liftpump pressure you should be able to find some info using the search tab.

I always thought my truck was underpowered but never realized what the problem was until I got some guages. After getting a quad rail pressure guage, I realized I was only making 12Kpsi max rail pressure. I brought the truck down to Industrial Injection and had them pull the pump. They found a piece of silicone stuck in one of the plungers. I hadn't done any fuel mods at this time, so it must've been like that from factory. I had them upgrade the cp3 to their Stage 2. Curious to see what kind of difference the fixed cp3 made, I punched it while getting on the freeway. The truck pitched sideways and I immediately got a huge grin on my face!

My advice, get some guages!!! Or, can you bring it to a shop that has a scanner? They should be able to run it and make sure you're seeing what you're supposed to.

this reminds me of my truck without the lift pump. In some cases you start using up more fuekl than you realize. When i first got my powerpuck and stacked it it felt slower than just Smarty Jr. alone! thre was rarely any smoke on most occasions where Smarty by itself would spin tires and smoke more. I never got a fuel gauge but i did get a fuel pump after everything talking about draining the rail. Now i can tell a significant difference between fuel pump on/off.

If im not using my aux. fuel pump it feels like i previously stated and sluggish if most. However when the fuel pump is on the truck will pull real hard untill redline. The only problem to me is boost, unless that the fooled reading from the EDGE.

This is just my suggestion after expereincing a similar event when i thought my truck was not working efficiently.

Not gonna happen with the factory torque management programed into the ECM
