I would think its your sensor, there's really not much in a CPS to fail I believe it is a simple magnetic sensor with a metal core with wire wraping around it to sense tone wheel teeth as it spins or close to that. they are cheap to replace money wise just a bit of a pain to get to due to the location. not sure if your 99 is in the same place as my year. if I remember there is 1 bolt holding it in place. 8mm or so. you can also pull the sensor clean all contac areas and plugs. have heard of many people doing this and this helped codes popping up. but again they are cheap to replace. well cheaper in the past just pulled this from genos. at least you will have the part number. hope I helped

Mine went, had me stranded for a while, til it kicked back in..Also, mine would literally shut the truck off at highway speed, then turn back on....

I changed mine when I did the VP. Bolt took a torx bit or something. Electrical connector was the type with tab on 1 side. Use a light & mirror & you should be able to figure it out.

I went with cheap lifetime part because Cummins CKP< not CMP had failed & I figured if the OEM part was going to fail, I may as well take a chance on the cheap lifetime part. Both CMP and CKP look similar.

small hands patience and some cold ones. give some time to yourself so the wife isn't do this to you... the only pain is a plastic clip you will see it. only one clip to pull apart and up. make sure you put some dielectric grease on the connections this will help if you have to take it off ever again. also when I did mine I disconnected both negatives and let them sit for 45 min to drain all. restore back to stock if you have any software on the truck before doing this..
