Crank Sensor

Today the CKPS started acting up and took quite a few cranks to start. Finally died in a Home Depot parking lot. Can repeated cranking kill a VP44? Just paranoid i hope, only code that was up earlier was the CKPS. Any thoughts?

TIA

I don't see how since the CKPS only tells the computers where #1 cylinder TDC is, but changing out the CKPS then starting the engine will let you know quick.
