CP3 removal

I need to pull my injection pump to replace my fca. All the little torx bolts wont budge, and now most of points are stripped. So Im planning on pulling the pump for a better look at them. My question is what all do i need? Ive heard is a pretty easy job, the only thing that worries me is pulling the pump gear off. Do i need a special puller? Thanks Joel

The puller I have is from Industrial Inj. I know Snap-on/Blue Point has them also. They are made to work on p-pump,vp's and cp-3's.I don't know if you can get by with some other style puller. Its a simple job.Remove the fuel supply, return and high presure lines,3 nuts around the edge of the cp-3 and the gear and it will come off.If I recall correctly the nut on the gear will retorque to 77ft lbs on install. And don't over torque the plastic gear cover. It will break,I know from personal experience.I don't recall the torque on it but it is very little, just snug is all you want.

Before you do that!!!! I had the same problem. Get something to strike the sides and face of the torx bolts, they will come right out. I used a piece of chain link fence flat bar, put it down through the top to hit it, and then used it from the side... the bolts came out easy, cheasy... It was after I had ruined a few of these...

I used a little pair of needle nose vise grips.

Before you pull your cp3, try cutting a slot in the head of the fca screws. I used a Dremel with a small cut off wheel and then broke them loose with a screwdriver that fit the slot perfectly. I tried everything else I could think of. That was my last idea before I would have had to pull my own cp3.

Sorry to highjack, but does anyone know where I can get a broke down diagram of a cp3? See pics or visuals of outside and inside components? Thanks
