CP3 Air Bound? No start

CP3 Air Bound? No start

Had the injectors out for about two weeks. Had injectors put back in, and now no start.
Anyone run across this problem, could the CP3 be air bound?
32 PSI being supplied to CP3.

If you have everything tight, it should fire up. It might take some cranking, but these do not have the air lock issues the older mechanical pump engines did.

Bump the starter, do not start the truck let if sit key in the on position for atleast 30sec to a min. Do this about 5-6 times . This causes the cp3 to run for a longer duration and self prime.
Mine sat for 6 days with no injectors fuel lines wide open and still started after doing this 4 times.

check to see what the rail pressure is during cranking,you could have a bent connector tube or faulty inject...

Yes, check to be certain you dont have a double stacked copper washer. Sometimes when you pull an injector out a washer can stay behind in the cylinder head. When you put a new injector in the hole with the new washer, it can stack the injector too high and cause a sealing trouble between the connector tube and injector.

Also, like King said, be certain the tube is sealing perfectly.

The CP 3 pumps to 23k on start-up so it must be an injector issue. Any codes. To check the washers you'll have to remove them again and pull them out and then shine a light in the hole to see what's left....Man I can't imagine bending the connector tubes as those things are stout. There would probably be a small mark on the end of the connector tubes where the tube was cranked into the edge of the injector fuel inlet port that was out of place. Just trying to limit how much work you have to do. Good luck, ks

Thanks for the help guys, My mech. is just about pulling his hair out. I believe he said its not building any pressure at all. As per scan tool.
Don, when you send the injectors back, do you send them with new washers ? Just curious.

You need new copper washers every time as they crush to seal as indicated in the tech manual. When you remove the injectors it is very important to ensure the washers are still crushed onto the injectors...if they aren't then they are crushed in the bottom of the injector port and need to be removed. All the info in this post so far is very accurate. Has the tech pulled the tubes and injectors to check. The pump needs a sealed system to operate. ks

If you have double stacked washers, one injector will be higher than the rest. You should be able to measure from the head to the top of the solenoid and figure out which ine it is if thats the case.

sealing washer

My mech pulled all injectors & found #5 to have a slight imperfection in the sealing washer. A small ding & I mean small on the top side of the edge of the washer .
It appears it caused it not to seat in the head evenly.

Make sure the injector orifice and tubes are lined up, and not it backwards. Even one backwards injector wont let it start.

Everyone makes mistakes.
