I couldn't resist

I don't have gauges in the budget yet, but i wanted to see how much these free mods= sliding plate and starwheel, would really do. First off it made a huge difference in power, i don't have to take it to 2500 rpm to accelerate and boost starts much earlier. I know i shouldn't have done it but i couldn't resist. Should I be worried about pushing some high egt's. I don't go over 2000 too much and if i do its just for a stint. And i don't tow. I know i am risking it, but how much am i risking it.

Sliding the stock plate full or most of the way forward generates higher egts than any aftermarket plate in the stock position. Driving without a pyro with this mod is like driving at night without your lights on, you really don't know where your at.

I disagree sliding the stock plate full foward is nowhere near the egts with an aftermarket plate unless it is a really small one, egts are only a problem on hard or long pulls on the go pedal but you do need gauges to keep an eye on things.

Justin - RPM is your friend, don't mash the pedal at low speed, that builds heat real fast. Keep the revs up and get a pyro gauge ASAP. And don't tow anything heavy.

Yep Yep Yep LOL

Just did that for a kid this weekend, he was complaining about lack of power from his 160 auto. Said he was going to drop it off at a shop, buy a plate, adjust the pump ect. $600. (Timing not included) Get this they told him he wouldnt need gauges until 250hp.
1. told he needed gauges
2. I told him to hand me a beer and a few sockets.
He now has a pre turbo pyro, (my old one) stock plate slid forward, gov arm adjusted; since it was falling below the stock plate, fuel return valve replaced. (he'll have to take it in for timing but thats only $100) All in about an hour.
I didnt play with his wastegate, started to rain, he'll be ok for a little while

Now all he has to come to grips with is the fact that his automatic isn't going to last. He doesnt believe me that his stock auto with 194000 wont take the additional torque, he said that the shade tree shop that was going to do all that stuff and wack him $600 said his auto would be fine up to 250HP . Some people just dont get it.

On top of that the kid got back from his test drive & wanted one of my other plates, I didnt have the heart to rig him up with a grenade but i did unleash another monster.

The above means nothing just felt like ranting
LOL

Congrats on being bitten by the power bug good luck, you might be single soon
