Cool air from heater

OK, I have searched and read every post I can find about our truck with poor or no heat. I have seen replies with suggestions of what to check but no resolutions or instructions. My heater door sounds like it is moving, when I turn the ****, I can hear the motor moving the door. for all I know it could just be the motor I hear and no door movement. The temp stays right between 140 and 190 (is this warm enough?). Does anyone have any suggestions based on their trucks giving the same symptoms?

I'm almost to the point to selling the old girl for a Toyota (waiting on the diesel in the new Tacoma), too many problems with every piece of plastic on her breaking and things like the license plate light melting out of the socket...

I had the same problem...the blend door was stuck...you could hear the motor run but it was not moving the door. I removed the motor, used pliers to wiggle the shaft of the blend door and it broke free. I have no idea how or why it got stuck. When working properly, the shaft on the blend motor should rotate 180 degrees from being closed to wide open. Good luck.

When you remove the motor, the shaft that the blend door is connected to will be sticking out of the bottom of the duct assembly about 1/2 inch or so. I just wiggled it with piers and it started moving...it did not take much force. Also, the little motor is a pain to get off, but a lot easier than removing the dash and all the ducts. You can clearly see the shaft that comes out of the top of the motor and tell if it is turning the full 180 degrees while you turn the temp control **** both ways. There is a circuit board inside the motor that will cut it off when the door is fully opened or closed.

The motor that operates the blend door is located on the passenger side, just about where the passenger's left foot would be...it's is next to the transmission hump...it is about 2 inches square x 1/2 inch thick, a small wiring harness is on the right hand side and is held in place by two phillips head screws on the bottom of the motor. The shaft on the blend is inside the shaft coming out the top of the motor. You could possibly wiggle the motor shaft without removing it but that would be very risky...ALL the small gears in the motor are PLASTIC...if you break or mess one up, you are out of luck. I will post a photo shortly.

I got the motor off and can turn the shaft about a 1/4 turn, is this all the movement i should see? I can hear the door moving in there as well. Before I took the motor off i turned the **** on the dash to see if i could see it move, it would but no more than the 1/4 turn i can with my hands.

When the motor is removed and the wire is plugged back in, you can turn the temperature **** all the way to the right or all the way to the left and the motor will continue to turn and not stop. It will stop if you set the temp **** somewhere between full left and full right.

Sorry, actually I mean if I turn the shaft attached to the door. The motor seems to work fine and the shaft did not seem stuck after I got the motor off, unless it freed itself while I was trying to get the back screw out. I found another post that mentioned a vacuum line under the hood above the turbo that could be loose. I pop’s the hood to check, just barley touched the brittle ridged plastic hose and it snapped in half... while repairing the line, it broke again about 2 inches down... to say the least I’m quite frustrated. So I think its official now anything that is plastic on my truck is either cracked, broke or breaking. (list of broke plastics on truck since I bought it: License plate light sockets, Spare tire winch assembly, Exterior black plastic fade, Driver seat side cover, Passenger seat side cover, Top of dash, Sunglasses holder, Vacuum lines under hood, Glove box hinges, Radiator overflow tank cap). Anyway back to the subject at hand. I had some heat today, not much but some. I’m taking a digital thermometer tomorrow to stick down in the vents to monitor. Also I noticed today that normally with the truck off after it has sat for a few hours I used to be able to adjust the top AC/Heat **** to select where the air would come out and actually hear vacuum sounds as the vents moved, not now though. It will while the engine is running, but seems to drain down to nothing soon after. Suggestions, comments, ideas?

I replaced all of my vacuum lines, elbows, and connectors a couple of years ago also. Since you will only have vacuum with the motor running I am not sure how much " storage " the lines will provide or how long it will last. There is also a " vent " door right above the kick panel on the passenger side. It draws outside air into the cab as part of the recirclulating system and is vacuum operated...I guess it could be open when it is supposed to the closed since your vacuum lines are cracking on you. This door only opens and closes when I turn the A/C controls on in my truck. Hope this helps. Did you try moving the blend door with the truck running and the little motor removed to check for heat ? The blend door correctly opening is the only way that hot air from the heater core can enter the duct system. The heater core is plumbed directly into the truck's cooling system without a regulator valve or cut-off...hot water is always running thru the core in your dash...the blend door just lets the air from it into the duct.

Alright, I got the blend motor back on and working now. New problem though, it's either all hot or all cold, nothing in the middle. When the heater **** is all the way on hot it's good, but as I turn the **** notch by notch the blend motor does not start moving to mimic the blend door to the **** selection. then when the control **** is at high noon, the motor starts moving the blend door, all the way to cool air and it' won't stop till it's all the way in the other position. Same going back the other way... now what do I do?
