good morning,
started my bone stock truck up yesterday and to my dismay the "malfunction indicator light" or check engine light came on. have had the new truck since march and have 12k miles on it.
have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow 21 october where i bought the truck so not too worried. just would like to go in with some questions i can ask the dealer and sound informed.
any suggestions or information you can give me i would appreciate? any TSB i should address with the dealer?
thanks,
david

If you would like to see what the light is for, you can try something. With the ignition in the off position, cycle the ignition switch quickly 3 times by turning your key to start it but not actually engaging the starter. Once you complete that cycle, watch your odometer. You will see some action. If a code is found, it will display something to the effect of Pxxxx. Once you get the codes it will give you a general idea of the problem registered. Hope that helps if your curiuos.

Code definition:
P0191 Generic Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
Could be a number of things could cause the problem, anything from dirty fuel filter to actual pump problem. You don't show any performance mods, so maybe just an anomoly. Does the truck run alright, the MIL/CEL may go off on its own after a number start and drive sequences if the problem is not constant or no longer there.

i love this website. a wealth on information it is.
my truck runs great as it has since i bought it other than lots of black smoke when i get on it hard but guess that is normal.
i am just wondering what would cause that code to come up?
guess i will find out tomorrow.
