Confused about boost

Fellas, I went over the truck today, tightening all boots, checking all connections, making sure everything was OK. Some of the clamps were not very tight, but now they are all tight. Air horn tight. Air filter looking good, no turbo dirt or oil. I take it out for a test drive, went to favorite hill once truck was warm. Started to drift back slightly, nailed the throttle, and never broke 26psi . With what I have in my sig, and reading what others have comparable, this seems low. I hear of guys with 275s and an EZ hitting 31-32psi boost. Is the Edge that much better then the TST?? Any guidance is most appreciated.

I only have the EZ & BHAF, and I can hit 30. Course, I have a manual tranny w/boost elbow. Sounds like you need to open that wastegate up a little. Some use the turnbuckle method, and some buy a Turbomaster.

Have you tried the APPS reset procedure? If it's not reading the pedal correctly it doesn't know where wide-open throttle is.

tiny,,26 lbs is all your gonna get,,the wastegate opens at that pressure.if you want to get more boost, youre gonna have to either put a turnbuckle on the gate or modify your actuator.i put a restrictor in the line at the compressor and tapped a hole(about two sizes smaller than a 1/16 bit) in the line at the actuator.with my set up it opens right on 37 lbs now.with just a turnbuckle to keep it shut,i would go 45 lbs in a hurry.when i had just the 275`s and a puck,it would go 34 lbs.if your not going to add any more enhancements for a while,id just put a turnbuckle on it.34 lbs is fine and wont hurt anything.if you want any more info on it,,feel free to pm me.id be glad to help you out any way i can..........bama

Thanks for the replies guys, but will the turnbuckle work on an HX35 with the rubber line and brass elbow?

Turnbuckle is for HY turbos, with the HX you use a different elbow with a small orifice. At cruise will it maintain a small amount of boost pressure? When I had a leaking boot the first thing I noticed was that I had zero boost at cruise but I could still make 26 or so when I got into it.

tiny,,i didnt notice you had a 98.5 model.youll need a boost elbow with yours.it does the same thing as i described doing to mine.did your max not come with a boost elbow?they may have missed the hx part too and not included one with it.call mark at tst and tell him you didnt get one with it,,im sure he will ship you one .if you just wanted to check it,,pull the rubber line at the actuator and plug it off for a run and see what kinda boost you get.........bama
