Computer Codes
Decided to hook my truck up to a computer to check to see if there were any codes present. The check engine light wasn't on, the computer was my father-in-laws new toy, so i figured what the heck. Hooked it up and it had 2 codes present. They were both the same, overboost, which I found odd, so I decided to delete them and see if they came back. I checked it a few weeks later and they were there again. The truck is running great, not sure what the code means though.

If you don't have any fueling/timing boxes, then you could have either a stuck wastegate, or a bad MAP sensor.

Thanks, never thought of the MAP sensor, like I said, the truck is running great and you can't tell anything is wrong, my future borther-in-law is a diesel mechanic and he has the same truck and wasn't sure what it was either..I'll have to check the MAP sensor though, thanks.

Is it possible to pull the MAP sensor out and clean it like the IAT sensor? I know on a gas powered engine you can pull it out and clean it even though they don't advise it, just wondering, I'm a poor recent grad who just started his first job and don't have a lot of money to spend. Thanks.

I've done it on my truck. Not a big deal... I used a bit a brake cleen on it and reinstalled it.
It would really be a good idea here in the near future to buy a set og guages for your truck... At least a fuel pressure guage!

Yeah I am actually getting one of those hopefully this week. Going to try to stop and see what my dad's friend can hook me up with. I would rather pay the $20-$60 for the low fuel pressure gauge than pay the $1200-$1600 for the IP. Thanks.
