i want to add bushwacker flares or something similar with the bolt or rivet look around the outside. but then truck will look weird with stock wheelbase. what is normal for spacers to kinda match up to the aftermarket flares? 2 inch 1 inch? 1.5 " or 3 "?

I think most people take care of it with new wheels...with the correct backspacing/offset....

Yeah, pretty much, just get differant wheels and FWIW spacer dont change your wheelbase.

What? If you machine a 1" spacer to place behind the wheel, it will most certainly move each wheel out an inch, giving a 2" wider stance. The only problem I see with that, is the lugs won't be long enough.

I think what he means is that the term wheel base is generally used to describe the distance between the axles.....something like 15'.

I'm not exactly sure the term, but I call it the track width.

if you check out your stock wheels vs aftermarket stuff, you will see a offset of generally 1" or less....but then those rim are generally wider as well.

so, if you want to push your stockers out to the same width as an after market rim & tire combo, you would probably space 1/2" for the rim, & around 1" to 1-1/2" for the wheels width....

I'd say, for all that effort, you should probably just go for a new wheel/tyre combo.

I guess lingo is differnat around the country but I have never heard of anyone call the width from tire to tire anything but track width and wheelbase is front to back. I guess anything is possible and all I have never heard of side to side being a wheel base. Check out OEM specs on new vehicles and let me know what they are calling the wheel base.

I agree with you, but if you read the original post/question, it is obvious what he was trying to accomplish. He just used the wrong term.
