View Full Version : Columbus, Ohio Dyno Day Dec. 3rd 2005

If anyone's interested, the dyno will be open starting at 11am on December 3rd at DynoTune's shop on West Broad Street (http://www.dynotunemotorsports.com). It will be $75 for 3 runs. Alternatively, you can schedule an hour of dyno time for $100, unlimited runs (must be prepaid, but you can schedule what hour you want). I'll supply the high horsepower trophies and hotdogs (donations accepted for the hotdogs :)). Please email or PM me if you want to run.

Sign me up!!! Got lots of work to do between now and then, though!!
Put those chargers to any use yet, Brandon?? Is the 40 still stuck??
Chris
joefarmer
10-18-2005, 12:45 PM
The 4 chargers have morphed into 2 mega-chargers. It's a 35/40 with a 14cm2 housing. Just tight enough to spool reeeeeeeeeally well. I still need to have it balanced, that will push the price for these twins over the $500 mark. :D I'm trying my hand at Autocad so we can use a friend's plasma table to make perfect flanges. Mmmm... flanges.
More on the dyno day - Howard @ Dynotune says it's a go for the 3rd. $75 for 3 runs or rent the dyno for an hour for $100/hr. He'll even sponsor the tropies!
Remember to bring your chairs, coolers and coats!

Hey Brandon you can count me in, and my turd of a truck!!!!!
I am putting in for the day off now,LOL. Let me know if you need any help.
I am trying to get the 12vchevydually to show up, but I am not shure if it will
happen. I wouldn't mind seeing what the old first gen can put down.
joefarmer
10-18-2005, 08:35 PM
We're gonna limit the size of trucks we put on the dyno... The owners have requested < 7000# trucks, but said they'll make the decision the day of the dyno upon inspecting the individual trucks.
brandon.
12vchevydually
10-18-2005, 08:46 PM
what are you trying to say,LOL
I think the 12vchevydually only weights 7,100lbs and thats with the dualls, so I am shure it can get down to a fighting weight of 7,000lbs.
joefarmer
10-18-2005, 09:02 PM
That's good. I forgot those were lighter. Dodge quad cab duallys with flat beds push the limit.
brandon.
12vchevydually
10-18-2005, 11:03 PM
yeah maybe we can find Chris a plase too drop a tractor or 3 off his flatbed,LOL.
durasmack
10-18-2005, 11:09 PM
Dodge QC LB singles push the 7000 limit... duallys should be way past..... why the limit for the dyno?
Found empty curb weight for above mentioned truck as 6787 lbs according to dodgeram.org.....

Brandon..
Something to think on for you,
IF the shop is willing to rent by the hour then you may find it easier to just rent the shop by the hour for the day instead of paying for individual pulls. When we do our shows, the shop we use average just under 6 trucks per hour on a 3 pull run. This past weekend we did 38 on Saturday(started at 9 am and finished at 4pm,with a hour lunch) and on Sunday we started at 9:15am and by Noon we had 20 trucks done, after lunch we did 15 more from 1pm to 3:30 pm when we finished. If you do the math you will see what I mean.
With your shop adding a weight limit of 7,000lbs they will eliminate all trucks except shortbeds and the 1998 and back ext cabs.1998 and up quads are tipping the scales at shipping weight near 7,000 and if the owner has a full tank of fuel and his normal items inside he will be over.It will also eliminate all duallys from dynoing. Its their shop and you have to abide by their rules but I can not see why they want to limit the trucks weight. Our shows we run all, including duallys and have no issues. The one thing we do though is have the dually owners remove their outside tires as it allows for easier lining up on the jet wheels.
Hope this helps some and if work eliminates their mandatory 6th day I may come out for this as I need to trip into Thornville anyway for some items.I may make a long weekend of it......Andy
joefarmer
10-19-2005, 01:25 AM
Cool! Thanks Andy! They were on me last time since someone who was well over 8k bent their loading ramps. This is a mobile dyno so it takes a bit longer to strap down and setup. They were at the Charity Pull in New Lex on the 8th and ran about 3 trucks an hour in the rain.
It basically started off being 6-8 of my friends who wanted to get on the rollers and I figured I'd announce it here to see if anyone else wanted to come. Howard did ask me if I wanted to rent by the hour and handle the money, but I didn't want that hassle. I'm shooting for a more relaxed, sit down and chat atmosphere instead of a frantic dyno day.
We'd love to have you attend the event, hopefully the weather cooperates.
brandon.
signature600
10-20-2005, 09:58 AM
I remember the truck that bent the ramps...F350 Crew Cab 6.0, with a toolbox and probably 200+ gallons of fuel in the bed!
Either that, or it was me[whistle]. I weighed just under 8K at the time, now it's heavier [eyecrazy]. I really would hate to take off the flatbed to dyno, but if I get to install all the stuff sitting here for it, I WILL!! I also have a low range now so it will be easier to back up the ramps, too!
Brandon, where'd you find a 14cm housing?? I also may need some flanges sometime too. On for a B2 inlet flange, and an HX35 non-wastegated outlet. I bought another turbo:D:D HX35 w/60mm wheel and 14cm non-gated housing. If I can't spool the 40, I'll build it so this will fit!!
Chris
joefarmer
10-21-2005, 02:13 AM
That's the truck! Claimed to have 700hp. Dynoed just shy of 337hp if I remember right. [laugh]
I got the 14 housing from you. It was on the locked up 35. We just cut the b2 flanges tonight. Plasma tables are cool! I have the files for it, he said we can make more anytime we want. 1/2" steel since I didn't want the flange to warp!
The dyno is still on! Trophies should be ordered this week.

10-27-2005, 01:00 AM
The weight limit will be roughly 7000, however, the dyno operators will have the final decision on Dec 3rd. Since we've run CC duallys on their dyno before, you should be good to go unless you happen to have 300 extra gallons of fuel in the bed.

7000 [eyecrazy] Are they going to have a scale there?
joefarmer
11-01-2005, 08:54 PM
No scale, but if your truck starts bending the ramp when they back it on, I'm sure they'll have second thoughts. I don't think they'll enforce it, but I wanted people be aware since they were worried last time.

I could do 500+ I think, but not enough time to bolt parts on this week. I'm thinkin' 400 should be easy though. Should have plenty on fuel, but a bit low on air.
Anybody have some DV's I can run...need something bigger than 181's!!!!:D:D:D I need to call tomorrow and see if I can have a set of laser cuts here by Friday!

:) ??? How wide of a tire can fit on the rollers ? I got 15.5 wide if to big I CAN COME STOCK. :)
joefarmer
12-10-2005, 12:42 AM
There was about 0.5" over the edge of the roller on each side of a 13.5 tire. The 12.5" tire with stock backspacing had about 1" extra. I suspect the 15.5" will be a little too wide, but we can measure on the ground and see what we need the next time. There was an extra set of wheels there, there's no need to change them before you come out.
The good thing about the April 15th is that we'll have plenty of time to get vendors lined up for the door prizes and concessions. :) Who likes FREE things?
