Does anyone know if you can use horses as collateral at a bank for a loan. Im in dire need of a loan to fix my truck.

 

Texas, you might be able to. Go ask them they may have other options too.

 

I know they will take cattle but I don't have any right now already sold them. I know they will take anything with a title to it but I dont have anything that has a title to it.

 

Probably a good chance if you have papers for them, except doesn't thvalue go down in the fall, because nobody wants to buy hay for them?

 

Yeah it does a little until about march or april. Hay is still cheap here I get if for 25 a bale.

 

Must be feeding grass hay....yes........... alfalfa is hgh high high.......horse flesh is down.

 

Yes coastal and sweet feed is their diet. The only time I feed alfalfa is if they are in stalls.

 

Good luck to you. The market for horses is in the tank right now - if we could sell all our youngsters for what they are "worth", we could pay off the mortgage!

I'd think you would have to provide a real appraisal (not just what you think they are worth) and the insurance papers to back it up before any stick-up-butt banker would even consider a horse as collateral.

Keep us posted though - this could be interesting!

 

Simply put no horses are not considered stock any more.

 

Im agree with DC. Haven't heard about somethin like that for years.

yes I know I will get back too you when I get some free time I promise I am right in the middle of fall gather off the forest permits 200 head of cattle still out my down time is nill right now and I gotta wean next weekend I hope too get back too you but be prepared its going too be a windy long one LOL

Just got back for N.E. Cal and N.W Nev round up is in full swing was good to see all the working Cowhands. My 2 year old thought it was neat and now knows Cowboys don't wear sandals..
