Cold Air intake 2004 5.9

Anybody have any suggestions on which cold air intake to put on my 04? Looking to get more miles per gallon.

I have an S&B, it's OK.

I immediately saw a jump of 1.5-2mpg and more low-end throttle response but that all goes away after a month or so or as soon as it gets dirty.

It's a real PITA to clean too.

I may put it on ebay and switch to a Amsoil drop-in that's easier to clean. I got better things to do...

I have an Icebox and previously owned an AEM Workhorse HD.

I really like the Icebox, but feel that that AEM performed better.

I have an S&B, good bang for your buck especiaslly compared to the AEM which are too pricey for me.
Didn't see any mileage improvement and I don't think most people do no matter what kind they get.
To get around the cleaning hassle I bought a spare filter, there's no down time, the extra one is always ready to go, just pop it in then clean and re-oil the one I took out, put it in a bag and keep it in the shop till the next change.

There was a thread on here recently, a guy was wondering if anyone saw any mileage increase with the new intake, try doing a search...

I too have a s&b it was $194 when I bought it two years ago. I have heard people using OXY-CLEAN to clean filters. Go to the search bar and put in "******* whistler", that would be my intake of choice if I hadnt already bought the s&b.

I've had my AFE stg 2 for a LONG time now and it has been worth every penny, it always stays tight and the oiled filter is huge. I live in Texas and dust aint a problem fo me, I clean my filter once every 6 months.

VERY FEW of the names that are popular around here are a TRUE cold air intake. I have an Amsoil drop in, with THIS and a AFE Torque tube. you won't be disapointed...

I run a Volant CAI and like it. It is sealed and is a true CAI. It uses the existing air intake hole for the stock air box and has an opening facing forward to catch air coming thru the gap between the intercooler and headlight housing. Optionally you can add a down tube. I wouldn't expect big mpg gains from CAI but it will help a little.

Look at Banks. I just have some PVC pipe from Home Depot. going down to pick up the cold air. I have no idea if it helped.

Afe Stage 2 hear as well, fits well and seems to perform. Freakin loud turbo whistle.I believe mine is an oiless filter so it should be easy to take care of. Mileage gains i am unaware of,primarily caused by said new whistling noise from underhood.
