will cold air give little more power

just getting 3 tc and other parts of my tranny ( dont know much about motors, trannys etc) replaced under warranty for 3 rd time in less than a year. my truck lacks serious power so i tried bullydog twice and now superchip. no more downloaders for me, truck is at mechs more than with me. will cold air intake give me more power, 20 hp? what should i buy. heard bad kn reviews. i dont drive like a retard but i need bit more power. thanks

get a amsoil drop in and youll be good. no real hp numbers that i can tell. mainly louder turbo noise. id loose the muffler if you havent already. thatll free up your exhaust a little. i know you said no more DL, but my smarty is awesome

A cold air intake won't really give you any power. At the most it'll give you slightly lower exhaust temps and louder intake sound and whistle.

I've checked underhood pressure with a Magnahelic (while building intakes) and even tho the air is hot, it is pressurized as soon as rpm comes up. So the choice is... hot high pressure air or cold negative pressure air. I haven't had egt problems on the CTDs I've built monster intakes on so turning it into CAI is way down on my want-to-do list. If cool air was so great then our mpg and power would go up every winter. Of you could do the intake fan so you have positive air flow to the turbo so it's more efficent and uses less fuel to get the turbo going. Look for the thread on "intake fan for performance and power"
