Code Plug Location

Code Plug Location
Hi everyone. This is my first post so here goes. I have a 2001.5 Dodge Ram 2500 quad 4wd Sport with 74K miles on it. I bought the truck with 6200 miles on it in 2002. I am about to replace the VP44 and I need to know how to clear the codes after I'm done which are P1693 and an ECU code of P0216. One of the local independent diesel shop guys says the plug is under the dash below the ash tray area. I looked there and all I find is a slot in the bracket where a plug should be but no plug. I have not moved it and I would think the previous owner would not have moved it simply to install a brake controller which I think was installed by the dealer. I looked under the dash but couldn't see anything that looked like a plug connector just hanging up there. Could it possibly be somewhere else? Thanks

It should be right about where your right knee would be sitting in the seat.
If you can't find it you can clear the codes by disconnecting both batteries for at least 15 minutes.

I was under there with a lamp and a large mirror and I couldn't find anything that looked like a plug. I even pulled on cables thinking it may have been tucked away somewhere. I am going to have our local Cummins diesel pro take a look at it. As for clearing the codes by unhooking the battery, it doesn't work.
I had them unhooked for 24 hours with everything turned on in the cab and the codes were still there. Thanks for your help guys
