Code 0230 Injector 3 circuit
Does this code mean I have a injector going bad?
I'm asking because I have been experiencing a miss recently during idle. Not all of the time but somtimes but only while idling.
Truck seems to run fine other wise and just had a emission test done which it passed, and any of you Denver peeps know how that is done. 95K miles on the truck.
Pulled the codes and this is the ECM one along with the companion PCM 1693.
Anyone...........

Out of a 2001 Dodge factory service manual,
P0230 Transfer Pump (Lift Pump) Circuit Out of Range.
Problem detected in fuel transfer pump circuits.
Looks like the lift pump is going bad...wiring connector/brushes/armature commutator.
The fuel pressurel needs to be known.
If you have an old R12 Freon install kit w/gauge, you can use it to check the lift pump fuel pressure, otherwise kits are avalable at most chain type auto parts stores.
Don't forget to close the fill valve.
Screw the connector on the fitting of the injector pump on the driver's side of the engine.
Turn the keyswitch just enough to "bump" the starter to get The Free 25 Second Lift Pump Run.
Stock spec is 10psi+, most folks look for 15psi.

Thanks for the response.
The truck is still on the original lift pump at almost 95K miles.
Did notice last time I changed the fuel filter that I had to run the pump more times to get it to start.
Time for a new pump....
Can anyone tell me where to buy the best OEM LP at a good price?

For an OEM style, the Freightliner dealers used to have a Campain pump kit. Don't go for any intank pumps.
Carter builds the stock pumps and I bought their high performance version and installed it on the frame rail in front of the fuel tank so it would be gravity fed instead of having to lift fuel 2'...pics in page 2 in my photo gallery.

Yeah I see Dodge doesn't even sell the OE pump anymore just the intank conversion which I don't want to do. Just want the easiest fix right now as not to screw up the IP.
Heck if the new pump last 9 years and 95K miles I will be happier than pigs in Edit
All the OE pumps I have seen out there look just like the Carters but they don't say who built them and range in price from $140 to $170.

Yep, the replacement pumps are plumbed for the banjo fittings installed stock on our Cummins.
If you have a local Cummins or Freightliner shop, you should be able to get a correct Carter for your Cummins.
I haven't heard any reports on the Airtex pump for our Cummins most chain type auto parts stores carry.
The Airtex intank for '95-'02 GM S10 Blazers are not very reliable though.

I think i'm going to buy the pump from NAPA which looks the same as OE.
The local store has one in stock for $174.
Not sure who makes it but I have had good luck with NAPA parts in the past.
This is what it looks like:

check to see if you are getting 12 volts first. Unplug the lift-pump connection and place volt meter to the connection that feeds power to the lift-pump then bump the starter and read the volts.

I think she is just getting tired
Remember when these 24V VP44 trucks first came out and people were having LP issues way before the 9 years and 95K miles that mine has seen.
