DEFINITELY!!! It won't come back out and things get ugly really fast!

Not sure it will gain you anything as the I believe the TC will unlock anyway, plus, the engine will defuel if it doesn't not need provide power. OD will over run if you just lift off the throttle.

It won't hurt anything but don't think it will gain you anything either.

Why? Fuel is usually shut off while coasting or de-accelerating in gear.

IIRC as long as my TC isn't locked RPM's drops to idle level so why take the chance of shifting to neutral?

it isnt going to make any differance at all. even if your TC is locked up above 50, your truck might be a higher RPM's but there is no load on the truck, it is the same as being in neutral

Its not the same as being in neutral. the gears slow you down when in gear. You can coast farther in neutral. Hypermileing works.

I believe that it does work but at what expense? To save a few diesel bucks you risk blowing out your $4500 auto by messing up one day. Personally I would not do it with a auto just for fear of grabbing the wrong gear and putting it into meltdown.

Went out to check mileage on the old clock and it says 254.6 on 1/4 of tank of fuel so I guess between kicking it out of gear and the mystery switch it works. Will let you know when I fill up what mileage ends up. Fuel hear is $4.65 to $4.75 so you gotta do what you gotta do.

The fuel gauge lies most of the time if you are using it for a reference don't rely on it. Fill the tank then run your calcs to get accurate info.
