Well as usual, I had a great time yesterday! For those of you that did not make it, you missed a great time. We had five (5) Dodge Diesel Pickups attend and one Ford 7.3 PSD.

I want to thank Pete Slayden (2141pete) for setting this event up! Pete, sorry about that tranny leak you had, but also thanks for drag racing me.
For those of you that were not there, I won, but not by much! Pete went 13.3@ 103 and I went 13.2@105. Very close indeed........................:o

The real "highlight"of the day though was when we put my Smarty "Beta" Programmer into Dan's (zuki_dan) truck. Dan is running the "TST PM 3 CR"
Module with R-49 and has a "Bullydog" Crazy Lary "stacked" on top of the TST. I told Dan that based on what I have seen the past year that he could get his truck into the 12's with my Smarty Beta "stacked" on top of the TST.
He made a few runs BEFORE doing this and COULD NOT get below 13.0.
Well, after the install of the Smarty Beta, Dan went out on the track and went 12.88@104 MPH versus 13.0@103MPH with the Bullydog Crazy Lary!!
The Smarty cut off 2/10ths on his time and added one (1) MPH on the trap speed!! Also, Dan and I ran our trucks "heads-up" and he beat me once and I beat him once![laugh] We came to the agreement that "whoever gets the holeshot is going win" when we race our trucks!!

My thanks to all who attended the event and to the new faces that we met there!

anything including Pete Slayden![nonono] The video should prove that to anyone looking at it and if not,......like I said,......I am up for a rematch ANYTIME or ANYPLACE with Pete! As I also said, if he gets his twins and bigger injectors in his 2002, I can always bring out my 96' so we are comparing "apples-to-apples!" With his twins and bigger injectors I am fully aware that he can beat my 2006 but I will say this; "I'll bet I can beat him off the lights!"[laugh] In any case, I am ready whenever Pete is.

LOL john beat me but he red lighted. I knew he was gonna beat me there was no question his "slow truck" is well over 500HP and has ran high 12's if I remember right. I say I had to let you beat me because I asked you to come race me knowing I would lose and didnt wanna let you down lol. John's 06 is Fast but his 96 is a little out of my league. Maybe if I get some sticks and some nos but then I will just still be close buddy. I wasnt saying I let you beat me as in you couldnt keep up just that I felt obligated since I have been asking for a few weeks knowing I would lose.

I would like to clear things up and Make a formal apology to John porterfield. I didnt let John win nor would he have let me win. As you can see in the video we were both full out down the track. Reading back over what I said I can see how it sounded a little diferent in my head. I have ALOT of respect for John. He has ben one of the biggest influences on how my truck runs like it does. He is a great guy to know and willing to help anyone who will have it. Hopefuly not to many people took what I said the wrong way, I just wanted to clear this up b/c in know way could I let John win I would have loved to beat him to the 1/4 mile mark. Just remember that the lower end in your CTD will be working long after the 6.0 comes apart. The 6.0 runs real well, but no were as long as a CTD. I don't want anyone to think that I'm slaming the ford, because I'm not. Its just that when you make a 6.0 run as good as his, the lower end isn't going to last.

Sir
How many 6.0's have you seen throw a rod or lose the bottom end??
Everytime someone see's a 6.0 running good the excuses start flying as to why it does and how long it's gonna last.

I have had my truck almost 3 years and it has had MANY 1/4 mile passes on the stock headgaskets, bolts and most of all transmission...can you say that?

I dare you to find a post of me giving a Dodge truck anything other than a compliment so why play the "let's see how long the bottom end lasts in the 6.0" just because my truck runs good.

I guess that's what I get for coming to a Dodge website huh...later.

dieselfuelonly

I think he stated he wasn't trying to slam the 6.0.

You said it yourself when you say "Everytime someone see's a 6.0 running good". (I will refrain from going into deeper analysis of that quote). He was not saying that they are all junk, just that the Cummins' bottom end will oftentimes outlast the 6.0s.

We were joking and talking about dragracing and out of the blue he tells Pete at least his bottom end will last longer...that's a good excuse if you get outrun huh[laugh]

Guys, let's try real hard to keep this thread civil and respectful to each other.
Please!

I have to say that I have personally seen David's (iracemx6) 2003 Ford PSD 6.0 run and as I have said in the past, it is one of, if not the quickest daily driver Ford PSD 6.0's that I have ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that his Ford 6.0 could beat some the Dodges in our N.C. Crew. We all have our "preferences" on make, model etc. of diesel trucks, but that does not mean we can't get along with each other. I have to say that David is as loyal to his Ford PSD 6.0 as we are to our Dodge CTD's.

Thanks.

I have somthing for you to consider.
A friend of John_P and mine from a few years ago used to give this advice at times like this.
Quote from Pete
This is why they invented Neapolitan Ice Cream, some like strawberry, some like vanilla and some like chocolate.
I've used this to understand many things to help me make sense of why some people do what they do. Of course there are times when idiots do the things they do that I just shake my head.

I've met a few folks down here with fords and a few of them asked me stuff like why do I have those gauges or why do you sit and let your truck idle before you shut it off. Some of them say thats a good idea and some just say you don't need to do that with a ford. That is all fine with me it is there money.

I wish I was back up in N. C. I havn't found the friendship I was used to up there. Of course I am still "Nick the new guy" down here in FORD COUNTRY.
I hope to be back up north (NC) when Geoffrey comes home from Iraq in the spring.

Take care and remember to be nice[laugh][nonono][laugh]
See Ya
Chris

Chris, Make sure you give us some advance notice for your trip back to NC. I'm planning on going to FL to visit the folks sometime this year, maybe we can meet up somewhere to grab a bit to eat and talk about the Ford guys.. [laugh]

Take care.

Good hearing from you Mike.

I'll put the word out when we are heading North, who knows I might be driving a FORD by then. When I see some of them in a parking lot all the hoods are shut. When ever I see more than two dodges in a parking lot at least one of the hoods is open.[coffee]

NOT. I think my blue truck with nearly 200K miles is going to be the last truck I ever buy.

I sure do miss all the friendship of all you good folks.

Take care and Merry Christmas.
See Ya
Chris

Chris

It seems like its been a long time since we got together:( How is your son doing? I know I don't have to worry about you, but I do worry about him. Next time you talk to him, tell him his DTR family is thinking about and praying for him. Make sure that he knows that we thank him for what he is doing for our country.

Missing you and your family.

Thanks Cris
He gets on the site from time to time over there. I remember when I was a L/Cpl they didn't even have computers.
I get e mails from him weekly or so depending on what is going on. He sounds like he is doing fine.
I have a few ideas but I will let them be known when it is closer for his return.
That is in the Feb/Mar time frame

As far as me goes I have been busy doing house stuff/yard stuff/honeydo stuff and now it is time to find a JOB.
Leigh Ann has been busy going all over the place she is over there somewhere and is due back sometime this week.

Glad to be a part of the NC chapter 18 family
Have a SAFE and Merry Christmas
See Ya
Chris
