clutches

If you had a 99 with stock engine and tow heavy what clutch would you recommed? I'm looking at the SB CON O and CON OFE 13" upgrade. Never slipped the stock clutch but I think the clutch springs are broken. Stick with the O? or should I use the OFE. The clutch must be very smooth to get the big loads rolling! The CON FE is out, it says it will be rough engaging.

SBC, builds a great clutch, I have a 13" CON-OFE and it is grabby when taking off without a load. But it settles down under heavy loads.

It has never slipped even when I tow with my Comp box on 5x5, so I can't say anything bad about it.

Having said that, a reputable diesel performance shop in Sacramento Ca. suggested the Centerforce clutch because it wasn't so grabby. I opted to go with the SBC at the time, so I have no experience with the Centerforce.

On edit: I replaced my 5spd at the same time I did the clutch. I now have a NV5600 6spd.

Do you think it would be beter to go with the con o? for smooth engagement?
I don't want to go with the ofe and it be to harsh. I'd imagine the o would be plenty for a stock to mild hp truck.

Call Peter, or his dealer of your choice. They won't sell you what you don't need.

I'm on my 6th South Bend clutch...different vehicles of course Won't go anywhere else for my clutches, as long as I keep getting great service, and good clutches

I have had the Con O 13" for over 100,000 now and it's been great. I pull 10,000 plus on a regular basis and often heavier and have never had a problem. It's easier on the leg than the stock clutch and not grabby at all. I'm running just shy of 400hp and have never slipped it yet.

call peter at SBC he will hook you up ...I cant remember what clutch he sold me but its good for 450 HP and was built for towing heavy loads. It engages better with a load then MT. so far the heavyest I have pulled was just under 30,000 lbs and it was very smooth but for the most part I try and stay around 20K or less and I have had 0 problems with it.
