View Full Version : Clutch slipping

With 97,895 miles on my truck my clutch started slipping. Not to bad but once I got loaded with a mixed load of 24 head of heifers and steers and on my 32 mile drive from the farm to the stockyard it was slipping very bad.
Once I got unloaded on my way home it was still slipping at times. Stopped by Black Mountian Diesel and got a price and I guess I am going to have to get it replaced before Dyno Day.
I hope

that EZ must have been just enough to slip her. sorry to hear about that, but you'll be happy once the sbc is in! (if that's what you're planning on getting)

Will at BMD said that he would take care of me ;D

That is why I stay with BMD

Mine's been slipping for close to 6 months now. :o

Dang thing will come right back if I baby it for a couple 100 miles and then when I tare into it it will start slipping again. ::)

BMD knows of my predicament and will soon be taking care of it also. 8) After it's fixed who knows what may find it's way into the engine bay. :D :D

Darrell

It is so good to have BMD in my backyard. Tom is taken care of my clutch problem. But I most likely won't be getting my truck dyno.

I would recommend a South Bend Clutch... Pete kicks for customer service, and they don't just rebadge OEM or LUK clutches... he actually does R&D. Take note - he's also came up with the fix for guy with twin-turbo Toyota Supra's that put out 1100HP on their stock bottom ends!! no !! Anyways, the Supra crowd thinks the world of his clutches... so do I...

Eddie,

Most of the 12-1/4" clutchs for our trucks will have the number of splines you see in the hub. Some of the early 6 speeds do to.
Most of the 13 inchers have a 10 spline hub. Not all though.
We can see in the pictures he has a 5 speed so the disk is more likely to be a 12-1/4. Peter does has a 13" disk with the smaller hub size to fit the 5 speed though.

Looking at the pressure plate gives it away. Its a 12-1/4"

Don~
