Clutch is shot. 3rd gear is out. Help please!
The other day I was driving on the interstate (pulling a 7,000lb trailer) and as I give it gas trying to pass.... The engine RPM's went wild but the truck wasnt following!! lol Is this possible without some kinda previous slipping?
Anway, I was told that my clutch was shot. So, I called checkers and they tell me I have choices.
$299
$403 and
$640 but, they couldnt tell me the difference. So, can anyone here tell me on a 2001 stock 2500 24 valve 4x4 with a HD 5 speed manual transmission which way to go? How much $ gets me a cluth that will last another 235K miles pulling my construction trailer around the state of Wyoming?
Also, about a year ago the 3rd gear strated grinding. Still works, just have to baby it a bit to slide it in...... (Hey, sounds familiar, but I better not share my thoughts there!! ) So I figured as long as I was changing out the cluth I would take the tranny in and have it serviced and repaired. I was quoted (around $1,200-$1,500) over the phone. Again calling around there is no rebuilt kits to be had or to be ordered and all the parts stores around here offer no exchanges. (checkers or napa)
Anyone point me in the right direction for parts or a good place to exchange tranny for tranny?
Thanks all for reading my post and any information you share

well lets see.....clutch wise....i'd go with either a SBC or Valair...personal preference on that one....
tranny...i blew out 3rd on min....got a new/rebuilt one for right at $1100ish...when i get to work on mon i'll look up where i got it from again and post it..
peir diesel is the only place that i saw that had any internal parts for them...

My suggestion,
call blumenthals in Oklahoma City and set up an appointment. Baby it there and get it all done in 1 day.
