Hey guys I'm out of town and having some issues. I Was in traffic earlier Waiting at a light with my clutch pushed in and after some time it felt like the clutch started engaging and lost all pedal feel and the truck started easing forward. I shut it off right them and started it up no problem. Try it a more safer spot did it again. It doesn't always do it but I think I glazed my clutch cause I here some chatter now. Oh yeah I got an 01 model with a six speed in it.What do you all think it is? thanks.
You just need new hydraulics. It is all one system that doesn't have anything to do with your master cylinder. The hydros have their own little resiviour on the fire wall. The line goes to the clutch and assembly, then another line goes down to the actual slave cylinder at the tranny. Agian, it is all one unit and usually cost around $200-$250. Install is a pain, but can be done in the driveway with minumal tools. All you really need is a 10mm socket for the resiviour and a 13mm wrench for the nuts on the slave. Removing the clutch assemle part is the worst of it. there is a certian amount of push in and turn, then it releases. That is after disconnecting the one wire connection and pin that holds it the the pedal.
Thread all the stuff up and out of the engine compartment. Take note of how you did this. When installing the new unit, there is really only one way it can go in. It is a cobled up mess of lines and wires.
