Clutch Problems and more
Truck is a 01 Dodge 2500 24V Cummins and 5 speed.
Been having a bunch of trouble with this thing lately. About a month ago had to replace the TPS which set me back about $400.
About 2 weeks ago the throwout/release bearing started squealing a bit. After about a week or so the clutch starts to fad, and a dont have much of a pedal. Its time to replace this stuff.
Well yesterday I had to move my nephew's dirt bike for him, and I started hearing a noise like a motor running from under the hood. And the ABS light came on.
Now when the key is on there is some kind of electric motor under or near the M/C that runs continually, no stop.
I unplug the harness the motor stops, but now I have the speed ometer doesnt work etc.
I also unpluged the lower pig tail at the same stop and the motor stopped, but now it seems to have effected the clutch pedal. I plug it back up and the pedal came back to where it was enough to get me home, but today the clutch is toast. I had to limp it home without a clutch at all.
So what is that thing? Is it part of the slave cylinder or hydrolics or something? Also did this cause pre-mature clutch failure? I have never had clutch problems the truck has 200K on it I have owned it since before 93K but it was used and ran hard before I picked the truck up.
It came out of Texas, and was used on a big range and fifth wheel towing heavy stuff.
Truck still runs like brand new, well taken care of etc. I replaced the injector pump etc.
Just need to make this thing right. I plan to order my clutch and Pressure plate assembly this week and get this thing back on the road, but what the heck is wrong with the brakes? What is that motor, and why is it running?
