Clutch install question.

I have been reading about a washer that resides under the pivot ball for the clutch fork. The posts reference dual discs for the most part, but I am wondering if I have anything to gain on my single disc by tweaking this piece. I had the trans rebuilt when I did the clutch, and it has never felt right. It does not shift like I really feel it should. On my 009 clutch, should there be a washer under the pivot ball, or maybe more than one? It has always felt like the clutch drags some. I also upgraded to Southbend's hydraulics at the same time. The rod was not adjustable on the hydraulics. Thanks in advance for the advice.
