Clutch gurus I need input..SB DD question

I recently had the 3250 DD installed, along with the goodies I put in. I have had for a while now, lots of city driving so I decided to do a small boosted launch, I tryed about 8-10 psi, ended up doing a burnout(left it in 2 HI, now I know). But afterwards not, when I let the pedal out to engage a it groans a little and has some new vibration. This is only when the slipping it, once it's in gear it's normal. And this really is only noticeable leaving in 2nd gear, the 2-3 shift I don't have to slip, I just let it out at the right rpm and it goes. Any ideas? Did it get real hot, start acting weird? Thanks

Mine used to make a screeching on the 2nd gear take off when it was new. No longer is an issue. I think it was just while it was breaking in.

When is your vibration? Mine developed around 1700 rpm in 4th gear. Got a fluid damper, reduced it quite a bit. Did the p-pump conversion, and it came back a bit. This is with a solid hub. Sprung hub should have less vibes than mine.

What are the chances it's the 2nd gear shudder many trucks used to experience?

Mine did this too, not a friendly sound. I haven't heard it in quite a while.

Question, you have the 12 button ceramic, correct? I'd be surprised if it got hot.

I don't think your little burn out did anything to your clutch. Getblown5.9 has 10
+ sled hooks and numerous boosted launchs. Still holds strong.

I think T.J has a higher plate load. I thought I heard him say like 3600?

I think he might have the next one up from that yet. Is it 3850? Either way, I cringe everytime I watch him make a pull

So the grinding is only when slipping the clutch, which only really happens in 2nd. I talked to Peter and he said when you get them pretty hot (and a newer clutch) spots get red hot, you let the clutch out, the spots stick together a little then break some chunks out and those are grinding in there. He said easy fix, let it just start to engage and blip the throttle to make it slip a litte, do this in first then reverse, should clear it up. I'll let you know the results...

I have the 3250DD also & I just pulled it off yesterday while my tranny was out just to check things out. It still has about 3/4 of the clutch material left & that is after 5 sled pulls & 30k miles. You will be fine.

Awesome, it was mainly that fact that there was grinding and groaning from my truck, I was a little worried.

You sure it isn't the pilot bushing or tranny problems?

Nope, I can't tell, I'm only going off what Peter said, though after today it seems to be getting better, I think that's a good sign.

Over a few days it had gotten better, I didn't need to upgrade to the 1 3/8 shaft, it's not as smooth as a single that's for sure, but it's not horrible at all.
