Clunking in Steering Wheel

I feel a slight clunking sensation in steering wheel at slow speed tight turn.
Truck does not wander or shimmy and is stabel at all speeds?

Any ideas?

Thanks

crawl under your truck and watch steering components while someone turns the steering back and forth.

It is in the steering colum mine does the same thing my sons 01 does the same thing and so does a friends 01. I am not sure what causes it but other than being annoying it does not seem to bother anything.

can u jiggle your steering wheel up and down or back in fourth in the spot that makes a clunk??? could be a bearing in there going bad. is there steering shaft binding up any where or is there something in the way.

like said before.
check the easy stuff.
1. lift up the front turn wheels lock to lock and look at trac-bar, and other steering parts. see if anything pops or catches, also check the steering shaft for excessive play. up down etc. the steering wheel does have a bushing that can go bad. there is a company that makes a beefy replacement for this. www.rocksolidramtrucksteering.com. I had a sound in the past also like this turning but mine was the extension nut off the steering box shaft from my DSS steering stabilizer. also check play on your ball joints.
good luck

I had the same thing with my truck, progressively got worse over time. Looked under the truck and noticed the trac bar on the axle side (passenger) was moving back and forth. It was slight but it was still moving. Tightened it and the noise went away.
