cleaning the filter?
I have a scottly III with a UNI filter and have run out of the prescribed cleaner. My question is what else if anything can I use to clean it? My step brother used to have a dirt bike with a UNI filter that he cleaned with gasoline. Is that wise or safe? It sure would be easy.

I would not use gasoline. It will deteriorate the foam. Go to a motorcycle shop and buy some cleaner and oil designed for foam filters. I use the UNI brand myself on my Honda,

You can order some of the Uni cleaner from the shop here at DTR...I think. Or you can go buy your local motorcycle dealer and they usually keep the Uni filter cleaner and oil in stock.
