That doesn't look right. A Class V can have thicker steel, more surface area on the mount, a 2" 1/2 receiver, or a larger hitch frame overall, but it should fit/look very similar to a Class III or IV.

I put the same hitch on my 05 work truck and it mounts just below the stock one and it seemed quite low to me as well, not sure how high off the ground it is but it worked surprisingly.
ill see if i can measure it up tommorrow

That must be the wrong hitch or something. I have a hitch on my 89 and 92 that was made for them and the reciever is just under the bumper. That would be well under your bumper if you had one. That could drag pretty easy. I would give the seller a call and double check the part numbers, or it even could have been missboxed.

I believe that hitch mounts not under the frame rain, but on the top side. That will put it right about perfect under your bumper. Try mounting it there and see what you come up with.

here is the link to the mfg's website. this is the part number i ordered and the exact hitch i received according to the picture

http://curtmfg.com/index.cfm?event=hitch.search

here are the instructions. the hitch is isn't wide enough to mount on top of the frame rails and too wide to fit in between them...

Besides being too low, I would think that the leverage from a 10000 lb load, on a hitch hanging that low, would be tremendous. It also looks, to my bad eyes anyway, that the side pieces that angle down, appear shorter in the PDF than in the foto. Maybe it's one of those 1 size fits none things...Mark

I purchased the same hitch 4 years ago and mines not that low nor is it designed like that. I'll take a picture later.

Looks like it might be for a drop bumper to me also. Are those clear tail lights or am I seeing things?
