Class 8 truck
I've had a Mack RW600 running the road with a paid driver.....but since fuel costs have gone outta sight I've decided to pull this truck off the road and retire it to my personal use
I'm going to pull the 5th wheel off and put on a gooseneck hitch I've checked all my clearances and even with the 24.5 rubber this truck has I can pull any of my trailers......I've been pulling a 3 axle equipment trailer with my dodge but with 2 bobcats on it I'm weight out at 27450 GVW and the dodge lacks power on steep grades
The Mack has a 450 HP cat motor with a 13 speed and a 40" sleeper bobtailing I get 9.7 MPG which isn't bad for this size truck....I'm going to re-tag it for 36000 GVW private not for hire and start using this truck next week....I have been thinking about this for a long time and at first I thought it would be over kill....but I'm seeing more class 7-8 trucks on the road pulling everthing from tagalong trailers to monster RV conversions pulling stacker trailers and since this truck is paid for why not use it

I move my equipment around to my different property's I own so I'm private not commercial I also pull my 5th wheel camper with it now....I've run past many scales and have never been pulled into the scale
I know some DOT officers that have told me as long as I'm not paid and everything I have is owned by me they have no authority over me

I've had a CDL for 40 plus years with all endorsments.....the feds say any thing over 26001 GVW needs a CDL or a trailer 10000 GVW
Many Class 8 trucks are converted to Motorhomes and don't need a CDL except for a few states that require a non-commercial CDL for these convertions
