Chrome mirros to 98+ plastic mirrors
Anyone done this? Is it an easy swap? My one has broken glass, and the other has a smaller piece of glass as a cob job to replace the factory one. I can get power heated plastic mirrors for 75 bucks. Will it be an easy install? I don't even care if the heaters work on them.

Yes, they will swap. Just a thought for you.... I put the newer style flip out towing mirrors on my 97. Very nice. I lost all the power adjustability, though. And, they are pretty pricey.

I love the towing mirrors, but couldn't give up the power adjustability, so I did the power swap setup... now I hardly ever run them flipped out, so when my buddy asked me about them, I said just get the manual tow mirrors... he loves them, never flips them out hardly, but they sure look a lot better than the sport mirrors, and work better too IMO

How tough is it to retro the tow mirrors? Looks like a couple of the auctions specifically state the base is different and that they without a doubt will not fit...

there is three nuts behind the mirror under the doop panel. Just take the old mirror off and mount the tow mirrors. My dad did this on his 95. He took off powered and put on tow mirrors he bought at the dealer. Somone on here has converted the 2nd gen non power towing mirrors to the 3rd gen powered.

manual tow mirrors is no sweat... the bolt straight on... and that's what I'd recomend. they're very nice mirrors
if you need power, you have to have a pair of 3rd gen mirrors and 2nd gen bases. it's kinda tedious, but far from impossible... I did it on my truck, and I love them, but there's nothing wrong w/ the manual ones, especially if you leave them flipped in or leave them flipped out 99% of the time

More like 100% of the time. I'm perfectly happy with the coverage I get with my mirrors, I just don't want the broken glass or rusty chrome anymore. My only issue is power would be nice since 4-5 different people live at my house and/or drive any and everyones car. It's nice being able to change your mirrors back easily.
