Chip Questions? "Programmers"
First off I will say I am the proud owner of a dodge again. I sold my '96 12-valve for $7500 and bought an 02 Powerstroke and modded it all out. I just sold it for way more than I payed and now I am to the dodge again.
That being said, what kind of chips are everybody liking on the 2007's with the 5.9L? Any help is appreciated. And remember I am starting from the ground up, so I am open to any suggestions.

I prefer Ruffles potato chips. I like Lay's too J/k
Actually guages should be your first priority. Alot the guys here are running Smarty's. I have the Edge J/A which seems to do well on my truck for what I need or at least till I can afford a Smarty Welcome to DTR.

That's not the best question to ask, but no worries. Gauges should be your priority now, I prefer analog. After that you want to decide how much power you eventually want to make. Then you can determine what programmers (not chips) will fit you best. You're also gonna have to figure out how much you are willing to pay for supporting mods if you want to go that far.
If you just want a programmer and nothing else, you can easily set your eyes on the Smarty, BullyDog, Edge, Dr P, or TST and get some pretty good power.

HAHA Alright you guys got me there. Don't worry this is not my first build up from the ground up. I already have the gauges, boost, pyro, trans, fuel, etc. I already did the cold air intake and high rise intake, and a shift kit in the trans. Next will come the injectors and all that good stuff, just want to go ahead and order the programmer "CHIP" that I want. I needed help because in my powerstroke the chip was custome burned and had 16 stages on it. Appreciate the help fellas and keep the humor coming LOL

IMO the order of mods should persist as shown:
Smarty, or Bully Dog, or others (this is your choice, not ours, so research it and choose wisely)
Extra Fuel : fuel pump upgrade, filter upgrade is suggested also, down to 2 microns at best, you can get something like an Airdog, Fass, BD, or others.
Turbo: If you want to go big on injectors or anything over 50hp stix, I would strongly suggest a turbo upgrade, as the exhaust compressor gets a little choked.
Injectors : You will be able to supply a moderate sized injector fairly well; however, your injector pump will then be in need of modifications, or complete upgrade. There is extensive info on this here on the forums also.
CP3 Upgrade,
Cam, studs, springs,
TWINS/Exhaust manifold,
man it will go on and on, you just have to decide where you will be happy at and get there. Honestly I wouldn't suggest doing all these mods at once, I would take this step by step to see how each mod affects the truck.

^ good luck determining where you will be happy at. Mine stayed stock for about 15k and I said I would never do much to it. Heck when I ordered my "chip" I picked up the smarty jr. with no intentions of ever going any higher!
