Cherry Bombs are a glass pack non baffeled resonator muffler, sorta. They were popular when I was a teen a few years ago in the 60's. They don't really sound that good, they pop and crackel and make a bunch of noise. The tuned mufflers by flow master and borla are by far superior and sound much better. They actually have tone. As far as useing a cherry bomb on your cummins diesel, all it would do is choke it out and slow it down. Straight piped is much better than a cherry bomb any day! If the rice burners want them, tell them to drive them somewhere else so we don't have to listen to them or be annoyed by them.

Alot of the 3rd gen guys are running aeroyurbines(sp) that I have seen pics of. They look much like a glasspack. I have a 4" glasspack on my truck and it takes care of the drone when pulling heavy or cruising at 55-65. They are straight through with liitle fins to absorb sound, so I would think that they would not create a noticeable amount of back pressure.
just my .002
ps it does NOT make my truck sound like rice.

With friends like that, who needs enemies.
He doesn't know what is goin on with the turbo straight 6 cylinder.
Put a magnaflow muffler, and it will sound real good. Not to raspy, but loud enough at WOT.

Cherry bombs?!?! Yeah, I think it has been a few decades since those mufflers were cool. These guys are right....they really do sound like crap. Keep your straight pipe. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't think a cherry bomb on a CTD would ever sound like a Harley and I don't know of anyone that would want their CTD to sound like one! I much prefer the big rig sound of the MBRP mufflers on my trucks.

My vote is for the straight pipe!
So far I've never heard a complaint about being loud.... But I've heard several coments about the truck sounding good... Where did I buy the exhaust system???
Go figure...

Cherry Bombs make it sound like a Harley???? What an insult to the Harleys!!!! Harleys sound GOOD!!!! Harleys have always sounded good and can only be copied. Cherry bombs don't even cast a shadow towards good sounding exhaust!!!! A high school buddy of mine talked me into putting cherry bombs on my 66 Galaxie 7 litre. They didn't last long and were in the junk pile. The only time I had mufflers on it was to satisfy a ticket.
Did I mention I really don't like cherry bombs???

Thrush all the way...
Don't forget that Thrush also made the sideliners, and side pipes look the best on anything...
Side Pipes > Stacks.
