checking codes on 98.5....

Does the key on / key off method work on my model year truck? Or do I have to goto a shop to hook up an analysis tool? Would really like to check without spending an money.

No. Go to autozone, it was free but I believe there is a small fee now.

I don't think the key method will work on '98's .

Key method only works on 2000+ models. I'd call autozone and see if its still free. Call advanced and see if they do it there for free also.
