Check your trucks for the heater!
HOLY COW IM STUPID. ok heres the deal. Bought my truck last summer, (july 04) Winter came, all the post on here said new trucks dont come with a heater. Taking this site for what its giving me i believed it. And im a heavy duty diesel mech, So obtaining a cord wasnt a problem. Didnt worry about it all summer. Went out today to put the cord on and what do i find? MY TRUCK HAD ONE THE WHOLE DARN TIME. An off the lot end of the year 04.5 had the cord on it from factory. GRRRRR Oh well now i got one haha

I think the posts say that the block heater itself is always there BUT you only get the cord if you get the snow plow package or some other option. No snow plow no cord.
I think thats what I read but what do I know, I have a 2nd gen.

Hang on to that cord, I had to replace two of them. Somebody pulls my cord all the way down the driveway and leaves it laying on the ground, when I back out the first couple weeks of winter

kingofdodge,
I'm not sure where you live but if my memeory serves me correct the block heater cord will be standard equipment on trucks sold in the most northern states. However, this is limited to only about 5 states or so.

Lary, we used to have a similar problem with Fire rescue vehicles pulling away while plugged in and tearing up cords, etc. We installed a system that would automatically eject the plug/cord upon starting up the vehicle. Sure wish we could have something like that for our CTD's.

I think my '05 has one. There is a cable at the grill at the front of the truck to plug an extension cord into. I presume this is what you are talking about???

12pack,
Thanks for the tip. I found an International dealer a few miles from my house that is listed as a Cummins dealer. Think they could fix me up? Any idea what the part number or part description is?
