Check Gauge Light

Has this happened to you? I have a 2004 Ram 2500 HD 4X4 witn 24,000 miles.

About a year ago, my check gauges light started comming on, and the Amp meter goes all the way down. It started doing it only in a heavy rain, but now does it all the time. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the battery overheat switch, and that lasted as long as it took to pull out onto the hwy.

The last trip to the dealer, they flashed the computer in the truck. That lasted about 10 miles.

Any sugestions?

I'm about ready to trade it in on a new 3500 Ram

Does this happen at idle or going down the road?

Mine comes on in the AM when it is cold due to grid heaters coming on. Grid heaters coming on are about the only thing that can draw the battery down that far at idle, that I can think of. Try removing the grid heater relay and see if that helps. The relay may be sticking. You won't need it in warm weather.

This happens at any time, any weather. It's very random, say 2 to 10 times in 20 miles, city or hwy driving.
